Als ein in New York aufgewachsener Jude mit dem Verständnis für die große Sensibilität der religiösen Ikonografie und Monumentalität in Koenigs Werk, war es nach Andrew Mezvinskys Aussage nur natürlich, diese soliden Strukturen mit einem ironischen Touch zu versehen.
Andrew Mezvinsky erklärt: Als menschliche Wesen filtern wir, denn sonst wäre unser Gehirn überladen von Milliarden von Informationen, welche unsere Netzhaut wie eine Flut permanent überschwemmen würden. Wir müssen alles bis auf die gerade notwendige Illusion filtern […] damit wir funktionieren können. Bei der genauen Betrachtung von Fritz Koenigs Werk sieht man die enormen Möglichkeiten, die in einer feinen Balance liegen können. »Lineare Inspiration Fritz Koenig« bringt diese Möglichkeiten durch das digitale Medium in das Zeitgenössische. Die Werke werden innerhalb einer linearen Zeitleiste aus Archiv und Sammlung zum Leben erweckt. Durch Sensibilität für jeden Themenbereich soll das Statische in die Vorstellungskraft übersetzt werden, die in jedem von uns schlummert.
Der in 1982 in Philadelphia, USA, geborene Künstler Andrew Mezvinsky arbeitet nach seinem Master in Zeitgenössischem Film und Installation am Goldsmith College in London in den Bereichen der Animation, Zeichnung, Malerei, Performance und Installation. Zentral in Mezvinskys Werk – welches im Moment Textil-basierte Gemälde, Videos, Künstlerbücher, Bühnenbilder und Papierarbeiten umfasst – ist sein fortwährendes Engagement für die Herausforderungen der kulturellen und semiotischen Vermittlung.
Werke von Andrew Mezvinsky sind in folgenden Sammlungen: Lenbachhaus München, Jüdisches Museum Wien, Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum Innsbruck, Hirshhorn Museum, Washington D.C., Brooklyn Art Library, New York, sowie in zahlreichen Privatsammlungen.

Nach seinem Abschluss an der ›Glasgow School of Art‹ (BA Hons Fine Art – Painting 2004) gründete er die Musikgruppe ›Shitdisco‹ und initiierte damit die ›New Rave‹-Subkultur in Großbritannien (ca. 2005–2008).
Die Gruppe trat ursprünglich nicht auf den traditionellen Musikveranstaltungen auf, sondern organisierte Kunst- und Musikevents in Glasgows verlassenen Industriestätten und in den vielfach umgenutzten U-Bahntunnel unter der Stadt. Später gingen sie auf große Tournée durch Europa, Ostasien und Nordamerika, wo die Gruppe hauptsächlich in offiziellen Veranstaltungsorten für Musik und Festivals spielte.
Später gründete Stone das Kollektiv für elektronische Musik ›Ubre Blanca‹ (2013 bis heute), das Jacques Derridas Konzept der Hauntologie erkundet, mittels Nostalgie für die vergangene Zukunft und Soundtracks für Filme, die nie gedreht wurden.
Daneben entwirft er auch Plattencover und schreibt Romane.

Andrew Mezvinsky is an American artist working across animation, drawing, painting, performance, and installation. Central to Mezvinsky’s practice – which at present comprises textile-based paintings, video, artist books, set design, and works on paper – is a continuous engagement with the challenges inherent to the cultural and semiotic act of translation.
“As a jew coming from New York and seeing how Koenig’s work had such sensitivity towards religious iconography and monuments, it was natural to add an ironic touch to his solid structure. As humans we filter, otherwise our brain would be overloaded with the billions of pieces of information we are constantly inundated with a barrage to our retina. Joel Michael Stone
born 1981, Newcastle-Upon-Tyle
is a Glasgow, Scotland, based musician and artist
BA Glasgow School of Art
After graduating from Glasgow School of Art (BA Hons Fine Art – Painting 2004) he formed the musical group Shitdisco, kickstarting the New Rave subculture in the UK (c.2005-2008).
The group initially performed outside of traditional music venues, organising art and music events in Glasgow's post industrial spaces and the many disused underground railway tunnels beneath the city. They later went on to tour extensively in Europe, East Asia and North America, playing (mostly) at licensed music venues and festivals.
Stone later went on to found the electronic music collective Ubre Blanca (2013 – present) exploring Jacques Derrida's concept of hauntology through nostalgia for futures past and soundtracks for films which were never made.
He also designs record covers and writes fiction.
